Selfcare isn’t Selfish.

Payticularly at the age of 23, my kind of fun is a self care day that consists of facials and wine all in the comfort of my home. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy going out, but if you haven’t had time to just do a face mask, and sit in your towel well drop what you are doing and get your self care on!

Having facials at home are my favorite self care days because I get to relax, and tend to my skin a little bit more than every other day. Of course I love being pampered by a professional aesthetician, but sometimes one too many professional facials really start adding up on that credit card bill. So that’s why I’ve decided to share my current favorite at home facial routine with you that should cost you nothing except a “Target Run”.ACS_0040

I always start my facials at home by showering and cleansing my face with lukewarm water. After I shower, I start my Conair facial steamer, so it gets warm while I apply my Glam Glow super mud mask. The mask is supposed to sit for 10-15 mins, so that’s the ideal time to steam. I use the nasal cone for 5-7 mins because since it’s smaller in size, I actually feel it steams my face, and keeps my hair from getting in the way. I only steam for 5-7 mins because if I over do it, my skin tends to get very dry. Now that’s just my skin, but my sister can use the steamer on her face for 10-15 mins. And that’s because everyone is different, and trial and error is the best way to figure out what works for your skin. Why I use the steamer is because when I get professional facials done, the aestheticians always tend to use them on me due to my sensitive and oily skin. The steam helps open up my pores to remove blackheads, whiteheads, and lets the activated charcoal mask really dig deep to make me feel fresh, and glow from within. Once my mask is fully dried, I use either a warm towel or a big cotton round to remove it.ACS_0042

Then the last step I do is use a Biore nose strip to really get anything that is leftover on my nose area because I tend to be the most oily on my nose, which leads to that area having the most clogged pores. After using a mask and steamer, Biore nose strips seriously work like magic to remove all the last bits of blackheads that were missed. Now of course after this, I continue on with my skincare, but I thought I would leave that for another post!ACS_0041

Why I like to have a self care day at least once a week is because it helps me feel refreshed mentally and physically for a new week. And it helps me go in with a positive mindset that allows me to tackle any challenge that is coming my way.
